Bright blooming cactus

All of the flowers had died down on the Christmas cactus and I allowed the plants to dry out until the leaves looked a little more leathery than normal. By this time the soil was bone dry. I then gave all the plants a good soaking and within about a week small flower buds began appearing once more on the ends of the leaves.

This weekend they have rewarded me with the most magnificent blooms …

My mom died February 25th in 2000 ...
And my dad gave me her very large Christmas cactus, that spring.
Christmas eve that year, I woke up to beautiful blooms all over the plant.
I really believe that was my mom's gift to me!

That is so pretty. I had a coral catus but it froze when we got the deep freeze down here in FL. It's dead. I hope I can find another one like it.

That's a beautiful flower. Cactus' have some of the most colorful flowers. It's too bad they don't bloom all year long.

Those are very impressive flowers! I had no idea you could allow a christmas catcus to dry out a bit, then water it to produce flowers. You seem to have a significant knowledge about plants.
