Today is followed by the shortest night . . .
Today, is followed by the shortest night of the year. The garden is now full of double-flowered honeysuckle blooms often called woodbine - this is a later variety to the sweet English scented honeysuckle that bloomed earlier in the year. The perfume of the double-flowered is a little more harsh and not as sweet. We have two varieties of it, the yellow which is rather rampant and a slower growing pink. They both still attract the bees and many other of the flying insects.
The first lily is also in bloom today!
