Experts advise that it has been a degree warmer this year than is usual. This has been especially noticeable in the early evenings and has taken me on many a late leisurely walk. On one such occasion a swan family danced delightfully across my path. The cob, his mate the pen and their inquisitive three cygnets. It is easy to forget that swans are both wild and strong especially when they are attending young. A cob can quite easily break someone’s arm if it feels threatened. So, even though it is tempting to stand near and reach out to touch it is best to stand back and leave the family to go about its business while discretely observing. Always remember to wait until they venture back into the water before being tempted to give them a few portions of bread. The bread must be wet, softened by the water so it will not cause harm when ingested by this beautiful bird.
Mute Swan family – the pen, cob and three cygnets taking a stroll on the banks of a nearby lake … a beautiful sight!

How simply marvelous Polly!! I wanted swans so bad for our pond.
But, as we lose so many of our fowl now and they are very expensive to buy and hard to find we are waiting until we can get an island built!!
I am back and slowly making my way. Trying to keep my mind occupied!!

I love swans. They're so graceful.

Swans are so beautiful!
Polly, wonderful to have those swans around. One of them might turn into a princess at full moon! teehee. . .
I don't like swans. First they are huge birds and they are nasty. Was chased away from a lake by a huge honking swan (honking refers to its size). I was just walking along minding my own business and wham...Not nice birds
I am so pleased you enjoyed the Bison Polly. Both Walter and me are going out tomorrow for a photo shoot and try our best to get some good close ups!!
If we can get them they will go Friday or maybe next Wednesday.
Most likely, it will be next Wednesday. Walter just reminded me we will be out of town all day Friday!!

beautiful. I would love to come upon a scene like that.
they're so pretty. Love to watch the waterfowl around our neighborhood pond, and to hear them fly over in the morning!
I always find it fascinating how youngs swans are grey and really not all that beautiful, and then they become these beautiful creatures.
